Contrary to widespread assumptions, it does not emerge as a reaction to the real behavior of Jews, nor to the actions or policies of the State of Israel. It is not a legitimate critique pushed too far.<br>Antisemitism is <strong>something entirely different<\/strong> \u2014 autonomous and structurally embedded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As scholar <strong>Lars Fischer<\/strong> emphasizes, believing that the fate of Jews depends on how they behave is a <strong>fallacy<\/strong>. It reverses responsibility and ultimately <strong>blames the victims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1\ufe0f\u20e3 Antisemitism is not caused by real facts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea that Jewish behavior triggers hostility is a <strong>simplistic myth<\/strong>. Fischer calls this the <strong>\u201ccorrespondence theory\u201d<\/strong>, better described as a <strong>correlation fallacy<\/strong>: assume a Jewish action leads to antisemitism as a direct consequence.<br>But essential questions remain unasked:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Why does the same behavior not provoke hostility when displayed by non-Jews?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why are Jews accused even when <strong>they are not present<\/strong>?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why does hatred emerge <strong>before<\/strong> any factual observation?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because antisemitism is <strong>not a response<\/strong> \u2014 it <strong>precedes<\/strong> the facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2\ufe0f\u20e3 Hatred projects a pre-existing imaginary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 1940s, philosophers <strong>Max Horkheimer and Theodor W. Adorno<\/strong>, in <em>Dialectic of Enlightenment<\/em>, identified antisemitism as a form of <strong>pathic projection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Human perception normally adjusts to reality.<br>Here, the opposite occurs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Whatever Jews do \u2014 or do not do \u2014 the antisemite \u201csees\u201d only what he already \u201cknows\u201d about \u201cthe Jews.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Jews become a <strong>screen<\/strong> onto which a society projects its anxieties, frustrations and obsessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3\ufe0f\u20e3 Facts cannot overcome antisemitism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is an illusion to believe that more information, diplomacy or rational debate could correct antisemitic hatred.<br>Antisemites do not lack information \u2014<br>they <strong>reject<\/strong> anything that challenges their imaginary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If reason were enough, they would not be antisemites.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, expecting Jews to adjust their behavior to reduce antisemitism \u2014 be quieter, be more exemplary, change Israeli policy \u2014 is not only futile but profoundly unjust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It places the burden of hatred on those who endure it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4\ufe0f\u20e3 Responsibility lies entirely with the haters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We still hear statements such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cIsrael fuels antisemitism\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cIf Jews were less visible, hatred would subside\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This logic is dangerous:<br>the more a community suffers from hatred,<br>the more it is blamed for causing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet the truth is clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Jews do not cause antisemitism.<br>Antisemites cause antisemitism.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Hatred of Jews reveals <strong>nothing<\/strong> about Jews \u2014<br>it reveals <strong>everything<\/strong> about those who hate them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion : Unlearning to rebuild<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Antisemitism is a <strong>learned response<\/strong> \u2014 woven into cultural, religious and political traditions for centuries.
