A Front Against Antisemitism
Deconstructing the Culture of Hate through Education and Critical Discourse
One of Ashteret’s pillars is to identify, deconstruct, and replace the narratives of hate that fuel violence, exclusion, and conflicts in contemporary Arab societies and cultures.
Among these narratives, antisemitism, often disguised as virulent anti-Zionism, plays a central role in building a culture of rejection, particularly in certain educational programs, religious discourses, and media spaces.
Ashteret is committed to breaking these toxic logics by proposing a lucid, educational, and transformative approach.
Our lines of action are clear:
1. Denounce the Demonization of Israel as a Political Dead End
Presenting Israel as an absolute evil or calling for its destruction constitutes neither a just response nor a solution to the crises in the Middle East.
On the contrary, these stances maintain regional instability and prevent any dialogue. Ashteret advocates for a strategic vision where Israel is perceived as a potential actor for regional cooperation, an opportunity, and not as a scapegoat.
2. Promote a Constructive Approach to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Ashteret defends an interpretation based on mutual recognition, shared memory, and historical compromise, far from the binary logics of hatred or victimization.
This is not about denying suffering, but refusing its instrumentalization in the service of resentment or perpetual war.
3. Highlight Critical and Progressive Arab and Jewish Thought
We spotlight Arab, Jewish, Israeli, or Arabic-speaking intellectuals from the diaspora who advocate for coexistence based on justice, dignity, and memory.
Including thinkers who recognize Zionism as a legitimate form of Jewish self-determination, while pleading for a peace based on shared responsibility.
4. Expose the Hypocrisy of Authoritarian Regimes
Ashteret denounces regimes and policies, in the Arab world as well as in the West, which, while financing or supporting extremist movements like Hamas, repress their own minorities, censor free speech, and prohibit any democratic life in their countries.
The critique of antisemitism goes hand in hand with the critique of regimes and political parties (in Europe) that instrumentalize the Palestinian cause.
5. Act on Education and Representations
We propose a critical rereading of educational content, textbooks, public and religious discourses.
Our goal: to promote a pedagogy of pluralism, historical complexity, nuance, and human dignity for all—without hierarchies of suffering or essentialization of identities.
Ashteret thus aims to contribute to a cultural shift: breaking away from narratives of hatred and closure, to foster a collective consciousness capable of envisioning coexistence beyond ideological antagonisms.
Refusing antisemitism also means defending the integrity of contemporary Arab discourse and opening a path towards a more just, lucid, and humane peace.
